Richmond, VA- The Louisville Bats beat the Richmond Braves 11-8 Thursday at The Diamond. Louisville took advantage of four Richmond errors to win the first meeting of the season between the clubs.

The Bats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Luis Bolivar scored on a wild pitch. Kevin Barker led off the second with a home run to make it 2-0. The Braves tied the game in the home half on a two run single by Damian Moss. The Bats opened up a 5-2 lead in the fourth. Andy Phillips scored on a throwing error. Ryan Hanigan chased a run home with a single and scored on Drew Anderson's double. The Braves pulled to within a run in the sixth on RBI singles by Joe Borchard and Clint Sammons. The Bats stretched their lead to 7-4 in the seventh. Bolivar scored on a throwing error and Jay Bruce knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Richmond again cut the Bats lead to a run in the eighth. Borchard and Diory Hernandez produced runs with ground outs. The Bats batted around in the ninth, scoring four times. Bruce knocked in another run with a sac fly. Phillips, Hanigan, and Adam Rosales knocked in runs with singles giving the Bats an 11-6 lead. The Braves scored twice in the home half on a two-run Scott Thorman double.

Tom Shearn picked up the win. Damian Moss took the loss. Bolivar, Phillips, Rosales, and Hanigan had two hits each for the Bats. Thorman had three hits for Richmond.

The Bats and Braves continue their series Friday at 7 PM at The Diamond. Jonathon Rouwenhorst will pitch for Richmond against Matt Maloney.
