
Red Claws To Honor HS Champions

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, will honor the Maine State Class A, B, C and D boys and girls high school championship teams at Red Claws games this season. The team will also recognize the seven Mr. and Miss Basketball Award finalists. The announcement was made by Maine Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.
The eight championship teams and seven finalists have been invited to attend an upcoming Red Claws games as guests of the team and teams in attendance will be recognized on the court during the game. The Falmouth High School Yachtsmen were the first team to be honored, appearing on March 7, while the three most northern teams have yet to finalize plans. Teams are scheduled to appear as follow:
Class A, Boys: Cheverus Wed., March 17 vs. Albuquerque, 7:30 PM
Class A, Girls: Scarborough Sun., March 14 vs. Iowa, 5:00 PM
Class B, Boys: Falmouth Sun., March 7 vs. Sioux Falls, 5 PM
Class B, Girls: York Fri., March 19 vs. Albuquerque, 7:30 PM
Class C, Boys: Washington Acad. Sun., March 21 vs. Springfield, 1:00 PM
Class C, Girls: Calais TBD
Class D, Boys: Schenck TBD
Class D, Girls: Fort Fairfield TBD
Mr. & Miss Basketball Semifinalists: --- Sunday, April 3 vs. Erie, 7:30 PM
The seven Mr. and Miss Basketball semifinalists are: Christy Manning (Scarborough); Claire Ramonas (Deering); Jennifer Nale (Waterville); Dominic Borelli (Westbrook); Stefano Mancini (Falmouth); Indiana Faithfull (Cheverus); Keegan Hyland (South Portland). All Mr. and Miss Basketball finalists will be recognized at the April 3 game vs. Erie, the final regular season game for the Red Claws.
"It is a difficult feat to win a championship at any level," said Jennings. "We are proud to recognize these athletes for their tremendous accomplishments this season."
