Red Claws Take Two in Iowa

Des Moines, IA - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, completed a two-game road sweep of the Iowa Energy with their biggest win of the year Monday night, defeating Iowa 113-83. Jordan Mickey, assigned from the Boston Celtics earlier in the day, led the Claws with 22 points and 8 rebounds. The win is Maine's third straight, as the Red Claws improve to 9-6 on the season.

The first quarter was low scoring. Maine came out of the period with a 19-15 lead. The Red Claws' shooting heated up in the second quarter - Mickey scored 13 points in the first half, and Maine out-scored Iowa 30-19 in the second to take a 49-34 halftime lead.

The Red Claws never looked back in the second half, extending their double-digit lead to 30 and maintaining that advantage by out-scoring Iowa 64-49 in the second half. Malcolm Miller helped Maine with a career high 16 points. Davion Berry added 15 points, Coty Clarke 13 points and Omari Johnson added 12. The Red Claws shot 56% from the floor (39-70) and an impressive 60% from three point range (18-30).

Maine now returns home for the next three games this week. The Red Claws host Texas for a 1 p.m. matinee on New Year's Eve, Thursday, Dec. 31. Maine then takes on the D-League champion Santa Cruz Warriors on Saturday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m., and the Delaware 87ers on Sunday, Jan. 3 at 5 p.m.
