Iowa Energy Fall to Maine Red Claws

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (7-9) fell 113-83 to the Maine Red Claws (9-6) Monday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Energy were led by Terry Whisnant with a 21 points and one rebound. Alex Stepheson posted a double-double 15 points and 12 rebounds. Maine was led by Davion Berry with 23 points, three rebounds and two assists.

The Energy jumped out to an early eight-point lead before Maine came back to take the lead late in the first. Maine would then go on to hold a 19-15 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Jones led the Energy with six first quarter points. The Red Claws took control of the second quarter by opening up a 15-point lead at halftime, leading 49-34.

The Energy came out with a quick start to the third quarter to cut the lead down to only eight points. Maine responded quickly and then increased their lead to 23 points behind eight points from Malcolm Miller. Iowa trailed 82-59 at the end of the third quarter. Whisnant tried to keep the Energy in the game during the fourth, scoring 11 points behind three three-pointers. The rest of the Energy offense fell flat as the Energy fell 113-83 to Maine.

The Energy head out on the road on Jan. 2 before heading to the NBA D-League Showcase in Santa Cruz Jan. 6-10. Iowa's next home game is Jan. 12 against Fort Wayne at 7 p.m.
