Maine Celtics News Release
PORTLAND, ME -The Maine Red Claws (14-22) stopped the Springfield Armor's 8-game winning streak dead in its tracks while ending a four game home skid of their own, defeating their bitter rival 100-94 in front of a sold out crowd at the Portland Expo.
Starting with a strong lead, Maine led for the entirety of the first half, outscoring the Armor 28-20 in the first period and holding on to a 57-51 lead going into the half. Springfield gained momentum in the third, bringing it within two points, but Maine battled back bravely. The Red Claws scored six points in the last minute alone to end the Armor's streak, 100-94.
Morris Almond, the Adidas Player of the Game, led all players in scoring with 34 points and 10 rebounds, one of two Maine players to reach a double-double. Lawrence Hill had 13 rebounds, leading all players in that realm, and added 17 points while Kenny Hayes and Courtney Pigram also scored in double digits with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Hayes leading all players in assists with 6.
