Indiana Mad Ants News Release

Fort Wayne, IN (March 2, 2012)- The Mad Ants announced today that they have acquired NBA Development League All-Star Charles Garcia. The team has waived Travis Walton to make room on the roster.

"Charles is one of the most talented players in the league, and he proved that with his great play at the All-Star game this past week," said Mad Ants president Jeff Potter. "Whenever you get the chance to pick up a player of his ability you do so, and I think he makes us a much better team."

Garcia, a 6'9" 230 lbs forward, recorded 12 points for the East team in the NBA D-League All-Star Game last weekend. Garcia was recently waived by the Sioux Falls Skyforce where he was averaging 14.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game including a 32 point and 18 rebound performance against the Mad Ants on opening night. He averaged 5.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 11 games with the Iowa Energy (2) and Utah Flash (9) last season. He was named the Independent Player of the Year after averaging 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in 31 games (23 starts) at Seattle University in 2009-10.

Garcia will join the Mad Ants tonight as they take on the Dakota Wizards in a 7:30pm game at the Memorial Coliseum.
