Idaho Stampede News Release

(January 27, 2010- Boise, ID) The Maine Red Claws walked away with a win and a franchise record points scored in their first ever game against Idaho, scoring 133-115.

Although five Stampede players scored in double figures, it wasn't enough to hold back Maine's offense. From tipoff, both teams came out strong. At the end of the first quarter Maine went up 43-33 and never looked back. At the end of the first half the Red Claws had three players in double figures including Felix with 15, Ajinca with 16, and Bobbitt with 15.

The second half was a heated battle for both teams. Idaho Stampede's Head Coach Bob MacKinnon received a technical foul with 11:03 to go in the fourth. Idaho made a run closing the gap to eight points. Soon after, MacKinnon was hit with his second technical and was ejected from the game with 3:31 left in the game. The Stampede were plagued by foul trouble and Lance Allred and Bryson Mackenzie both received their sixth fouls in the fourth quarter, sending them to the bench.

"We came out flat and didn't play with any effort," said MacKinnon. "When you do that in this league people can take advantage of that. Maine was able to capitalize and played a hard fought game."

Maine finished the game with six players scoring in double figures including Gilder with 22, Felix with 19, Ajinca with 25, Bobbitt with 31, and Blalock and Lazare with 15 apiece. The Stampede's Ambres scored 27 points, Coby Karl and Donell Taylor each ended with 23 points and Roberto Bergersen came off the bench to score 13.

"Great end to a great rode trip for us," said Red Claws Head Coach Austin Ainge. "I was proud of Tony Bobbitt, I know that he can score, but to end up with seven steals was just amazing."

The Idaho Stampede stay home to take on the Bakersfield Jam this Friday and Saturday night. Maine travels back home to take on the Erie BayHawks Friday night.
