Bakersfield Jam News Release
(Bakersfield, Calif. - January 27, 2010) - The Bakersfield Jam has completed a trade that will send guard/forward Jared Newson to the Sioux Falls Skyforce in exchange for forward Keith Brumbaugh.
Brumbaugh spent this past fall in training camp with the Denver Nuggets before returning to the Skyforce. In his second year with Sioux Falls, he has played 23 games (18 starts) and averaged 15.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 31.3 minutes per game, including a season-high 30 points on 11-for-16 shooting (4-for-6 from long distance) to go with five rebounds and three steals against the Tulsa 66ers on January 2.
"Keith brings us length and athleticism on both ends of the court," said Bakersfield Head Coach Will Voigt. "He plays extremely hard, and in talking with his past coaches, has shown a desire to improve."
After leading the team in scoring in the early going, Newson had seen his minutes and production for the Jam drop as of late. In 20 games (eight starts) on the season, he averaged 10.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 25.4 minutes per game.
"We thank Jared for his time spent here in Bakersfield and wish him the best in Sioux Falls," Coach Voigt said.
Brumbaugh is expected to be in uniform and ready to play for the Jam's Friday-Saturday doubleheader at the Idaho Stampede.
