
Red Claws Add Marcus Thornton

PORTLAND, Maine - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, announce that Marcus Thornton has joined the team. Thornton, a guard, was a second round draft pick (45th overall) by the Boston Celtics in the 2015 NBA Draft.
A star at William & Mary, Thornton participated in the Celtics' 2015 NBA Summer League team, averaging 5.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in eight games. Thornton then elected to play overseas, playing in Australia's National Basketball League. With the Sydney Kings, Thornton averaged 12.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 26 games.
To make room for Thornton on the roster, the Red Claws waived Ella Ellis. The forward has returned to the U.S. Army.
