Maine Celtics News Release
PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they have acquired Paul Davis, a 6-11 center who played most recently for the Washington Wizards. He was acquired by the Red Claws through the available player pool. The announcement was made by Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings.
Davis, 25, was a 2006 2nd round pick (34th overall) of the Los Angeles Clippers, spending three seasons with LA before signing with the Wizards this season. He appeared in two games with Washington before being waived on November 11. A standout in high school who was named Michigan's Mr. Basketball in 2002 and was also named a McDonald's and Parade Magazine All-American, Davis played four seasons for Michigan State where the Spartans advanced to the Final Four his junior season.
"We are very happy to add a player of the caliber of Paul Davis," said Jennings. "He brings a lot of size and skill to our team."
Davis will wear #50 and will be in the lineup tonight as the Red Claws host the Springfield Armor.
