Balanced Energy Continue Dominance Over Ft. Wayne 120-110

FT. WAYNE, IN, Jan. 31, 2010 - The Iowa Energy and Ft. Wayne Mad Ants have matched up seven times this season. Sunday night in Ft. Wayne, the Energy swept the season series against their Eastern conference rivals as they defeated the Mad Ants 120-110.

Ft. Wayne jumped out to an early 28-21 lead as forward Rob Kurz scored eight points in the quarter for the home team. Iowa responded in the second quarter as center Courtney Sims scored the first five points of the quarter to bring the Energy within three. A 10-0 Iowa run midway through the quarter gave Iowa a lead it would not relinquish the rest of the night.

The Mad Ants cut the lead to three with only 3:29 remaining in the game, but Iowa scored the next nine points to put the game away.

Iowa's balanced attack, which featured seven players in double figures, was led by Curtis Stinson and Earl Barron, who scored 23 points each. Stinson also recorded 12 assists in the win as the Energy moved to 22-6 with the win.

Ft. Wayne, who dropped to 10-17 with the loss, was led by Kurz's 26 point, 14 rebound effort.

Iowa travels to Erie Wednesday for a game at 6 PM Central. The team returns home for weekend games on Friday, February 5th and Saturday, February 6th. The game on February 6th features a doubleheader with the Ames High School boys team playing at 5pm and the Energy playing at 7pm. Your ticket gets you in to both games that evening.
