HARRISON, NJ (March 19, 2013) - The New York Red Bulls announced today that they have signed forward Peguy Luyindula. Luyindula will be added to the team's roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa.
"Peguy has a good pedigree as a forward who has played for many years in Europe and has now returned to full fitness," said Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh. "He is technically very good and his movements on the pitch are impressive. We are happy to add him to our roster."
Luyindula was most recently with renowned French side, Paris Saint-Germain, where he played since 2007. During his time at PSG, Luyindula played in 179 games in all competitions, scoring 37 goals. Prior to joining PSG, Luyindula was with French club, Marseille, from 2004-05 before heading on loan to Auxerre (2005-05) and Spanish side, Levante at the start of the 2006 campaign.
The 32-year-old started his career at Niort in 1997 before moving to Strasbourg for three-plus years. Luyindula was able to compete in the UEFA Champions League at Lyon from 2001-2004, scoring 46 goals in 126 appearances in all competitions while helping his team win two league championships. Luyindula has earned six caps for the French National Team, scoring one goal in a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
