CHICAGO, ILL. (April 17, 2015) - New York Red Bulls Homegrown defender Matt Miazga has been named to the 20-man roster for Tab Ramos' U.S. Under-20 side ahead of next week's U.S. Under-20 camp in Linz, Austria.
Miazga will depart this weekend to join the team for a 10-day camp and one friendly against fellow U-20 World Cup side Qatar on April 21. The game will be played at Red Bull Arena, home of FC Red Bull Slazburg in Wals- Siezenheim, Austria.
Miazga will return to New York April 23 and will be available for the Red Bulls' game April 26 against the LA Galaxy.
The Clifton, N.J., native played an integral role for the U-20s this winter during the CONCACAF Championships, which the squad won to qualify for this year's FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand. Miazga has played the last three games for the Red Bulls after replacing an injured Ronald Zubar on opening day.
The USA was drawn into Group A of the U-20 World Cup alongside host New Zealand, Ukraine and first-time participant Myanmar. The U.S. opens the tournament May 30 against Myanmar, continues play on June 2 against New Zealand, and wraps up the group stage against Ukraine on June 5.
