Red Bulls II June Preview
June 1, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
New York Red Bulls II News Release
New York Red Bulls II will play four matches during the month of June, including two first-time opponents and two rematches from earlier in the season.
Thursday, June 2 - San Diego Loyal SC (Red Bull Arena, 5:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
For the first time since the 2020 season, Red Bulls II will play a match at Red Bull Arena. The club will welcome in Landon Donovan and San Diego, a club that has seen a lot of success in the early months of the campaign. They opened the season by winning five of their first six matches, and have since earned results against Oakland, Tampa Bay and New Mexico. The club is led by Kyle Vassell, who is tied for the league lead with eight goals. The match will mark the fifth match in club history against a West Coast club.
Wednesday, June 8 - Loudoun United FC (Segra Field, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
The first return match of the 2022 season will have Red Bulls II travel to face Loudoun United FC. New York will look to avenge their 3-0 loss to Loudoun back in March. The two sides have met nine times in their history and seven times since the beginning of the 2020 season, creating a lot of familiarity between them. In five of the last six meetings, a club has scored at least three goals.
Wednesday, June 15 - FC Tulsa (MSU Soccer Park, 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
New York will host its 2022 Pride Night, presented by Alementary Brewing Company, on June 15 against FC Tulsa. The two clubs played a five-goal thriller back in early April, and New York will look to avenge its loss in that match. Tulsa is led by the goal-scoring duo of J.J. Williams and Rodrigo da Costa, who have combined for nine goals on the season. They will look to turn things around in June as well, as they lost four out of five matches to conclude the month of May.
Saturday, June 25 - El Paso Locomotive FC (Southwest University Park, 9:30 p.m. ET, ESPN+)
Red Bulls II will travel to El Paso for the first time in club history to conclude the month. Since April 23, El Paso has earned a result in all but one match they have played, a stretch that has included five victories by a combined margin of ten goals. That run has propelled them into the playoff picture in the Western Conference as they finished the month fifth in the table. The match will mark the fourth of eight out-of-conference matches during the campaign for New York.
