BROCKTON – The Rox broke or tied five team records as they rolled over the Bangor Lumberjacks, 14-8, Tuesday at Campanelli Stadium, improving their record to 5-2.

With four hits and two homeruns in the game, Jake Daubert tied Rox game records for those two categories. The Rox set new team records for most hits in a game with 21 (previous high was 20, set Sept. 1, 2003 against Berkshire), most homeruns in a game with six (previous high was four, set May 27, 2003 against Berkshire), and most hits in a game by both teams with 35 (previous mark was 34, set Aug. 2, 2002 with Quebec).

Craig Lewis (2-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Abner Arroyo (3-for-5, 3 runs, 1 RBI), Kris Zacuto (2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBI), and Brian Jones (1-for-1, 1 run, 1 RBI) each delivered a homerun to combine with two from Daubert (4-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBI) to set the Rox new homerun mark.

The Rox got the scoring started in the second inning with two-run homerun from Zacuto, making his first start at catcher in the Rox lineup. After Arroyo, who reached base five times, reached base on an error, Aaron Fera drove him home to make it 3-0.

Bangor would answer with a homerun in the top of the fourth inning as Donnie Ross hit a two-run shot for his second homerun in as many days. The ‘Jacks tied the game in the fifth when Jake Whitesides doubled home Shin Uchino.

The Rox added three more runs in their half of the fifth as Daubert picked up his first homerun of the game, a solo shot. Mike Torres doubled to left field and scored when Zacuto doubled to right-center filed. Zacuto then scored on a Chad Stewart single to right.

Bangor came back with four runs in the sixth when Donnie Ross doubled to right, Derry Hammond delivered a single through the left side of the infield, and Ross scored on a Mike Hargreaves single. Hammond came in on Uchino's double down the left field line. Jose Garcia's double down the left field line scored Hargreaves and Uchino.

In the sixth, the Rox answered with four runs as Arroyo doubled down the right field line, went to third on Saul Bustos's ground out, and scored on Fera's single up the middle. Lewis homered to left, with Fera scoring ahead of him. Daubert singled for his third hit of the game, went to third on Francisco Matos's single to center, and scored on Torres's sacrifice fly to center.

The Rox added three more in the seventh when Arroyo homered to right, Lewis doubled down the left field line and scored on Daubert's second homerun of the game.

The Rox added a single run in the eighth as Brian Jones, who entered the game as a pinch hitter for Zacuto in the sixth inning, homered to straightaway center field.

The ‘Jacks added a lone run in the ninth when Whitesides doubled to center and went to third on Mark Burke's ground out to first base. Ryan Sienko's single to left brought Whitesides home to finish the scoring at 14-8.

Tommy MacLane (2-0), who entered the game in the sixth inning, picked up the win and Tony Stutz recorded his first save of the season. The ‘Jacks Brandon Bowe (0-2) was charged with the loss.

In spite of the outcome, the day started out on a disappointing note for many Brockton students. On what was scheduled to be "School Day" – a day when the park would have been filled with students from the Brockton Public Schools – the threat of heavy rains caused the day to be cancelled. Instead, vouchers good for two tickets to either the June 20 or Aug. 1 game against the Aces will be given to each student who was supposed to be at the park today. The voucher can be redeemed at the Rox box office, depending upon availability.

The Rox begin a seven-day road trip to New Haven and New Jersey on Thursday when they visit the New Haven County Cutters.

The Brockton Rox, 2003 champions of the independent Northeast League, have added six additional dates and seven additional games at Campanelli Stadium to their schedule. The games will be vs. The Aces, the NEL's road team, and are scheduled for June 18 -20 and July 30 – Aug. 1 with a double-header on July 31.
