Record Crowd Propels Los Angeles to Win Over Utah

EL SEGUNDO, CA - Behind a franchise record crowd of 2,500 fans, the Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated West Division leading Utah Flash, 102-91, Sunday afternoon at STAPLES Center.

After a see-saw battle in the first half, Los Angeles (17-31) was able to put the Flash away for good in the third quarter. The D-Fenders stepped up their defense to begin the third stanza, igniting a 28-10 run in which they forced Utah into nine turnovers during that stretch.

Dwayne Mitchell led the D-Fenders with his eight double-double of the season, scoring 25 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Ryan Forehan-Kelly chipped in with 23 points, seven boards and seven assists in the win. Mickael Gelabale (15) and Gabriel Hughes (12 and eight boards) contributed with strong performances off the bench.

Finding his shooting stroke in the second half, Andre Ingram hit five of six from behind the arc for Utah. Ingram finished with 19 points off the Flash bench. Utah Jazz-assignee Kosta Koufos posted 19 points and eight rebounds and fellow Jazz teammate Morris Almond contributed 16 points, 10 of which came from the charity stripe.

Utah dropped to 28-17 on the season and into a first-place tie with the Idaho Stampede in the West Division.

The rematch is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th at the McKay Events Center in Utah. This will be the final road trip for the D-Fenders before they return home for their season finale on Thursday, April 9th against the Reno Bighorns at STAPLES Center.
