
Nelson, Williams help Toros topple Energy

AUSTIN, TX -Marcus Williams recorded a triple-double including 29 points and the Austin Toros upended the Iowa Energy 129-112 on Saturday night at the Austin Convention Center. Williams also finished with 14 rebounds and 13 assists.
Austin used a 36 point second quarter to distance themselves from Iowa and take control of the game early in the first half.
"Marcus Williams was terrific for us tonight," Austin Toros head coach Quin Snyder said. "The team was very unselfish and they are really improved over the past week."
The Toros starting lineup of Malik Hairston, Nelson, M. Williams, Eric Dawson and Dwayne Jones combined for 104 of the team's 129 and all starters scored in double figures for the second game in a row.
San Antonio Spurs assigned player Malik Hairston scored 21 points, Jones added 14 and Dawson finished with 13 points for the Toros, who improved to 29-17 on the season.
Curtis Stinson recorded a triple-double for the Energy and scored a team-high 27 points, 11 points and 10 assists. Iowa also had five players scoring in double figures, which included 19 points from Othyus Jeffers, 17 from Mark Tyndale and 14 from Demetris Nichols.
The Toros face Rio Grande Valley on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center.
