
Bighorns Double Double's too much for Thunderbirds

April 5th, Reno- Both the Reno Bighorns and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds opened the game hot, with both teams shooting over 50% for the first half. The Bighorns tough play in the third quarter was the difference, as they had double digit victory, Bighorns 115-101.
The first half was a close contest with the score tied after the first quarter 32-32. The Bighorns were able to get some separation from Albuquerque in the second quarter as Rod Benson and Garry Hill-Thomas combined for 18 points, as the Bighorns took a 66-60 lead into halftime.
Despite shooting only 37% from the field in the third quarter, second chance points kept the Bighorns going in the third quarter, as they collected 9 offensive rebounds.
The Bighorns were able to maintain the lead the rest of the game, only allowing the Thunderbirds within 7, midway through the fourth quarter. They continued to pull away to the final of 115-101.
The Bighorns were led by the double-doubles of Benson, Hill-Thomas and David Noel. Benson had 19 points and 16 rebounds, Hill-Thomas added 15 points and 13 rebounds. Noel was one rebound shy of a triple-double, with 17 points, 11 assists and 9 rebounds. Richie Frahm had a game high of 26 points. The Thunderbirds were led by the guard, Will Conroy with 21 points.
The Bighorns will travel to Texas to face the Austin Toros on Tuesday.
