Record-Breaking Night by Joynt Paces Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Brian Joynt connected for a team record four doubles as the Kansas City T-Bones (8-4) defeated the Lake County Fielders (5-8), 8-3, Tuesday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

After three scoreless innings, Lake County opened the scoring off Kansas City starter Ryan Knippschild (3-0) with an RBI double by John Delaney. In front of 4,869 fans, the T-Bones answered with two runs in the bottom half of the frame. Brian Joynt hit a double off Fielders starter Corey Bass (1-2) and scored on a two-run home run by Jim Fasano, giving the T-Bones a 2-1 advantage.

The T-Bones added a run in the fifth when Jimmy Mojica scored on Joynt's second double, making the score 3-1.

Lake County scored an unearned run in the seventh when Brandon Anderson singled then advanced to second with a stolen base. After an errant pickoff throw moved him to third, Anthony Esquer brought him home with a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-2.

Knippschild left after surrendering two runs, one earned, on nine hits over six and two-thirds innings. Hamren entered with two outs and two on and induced a ground out to end the inning.

Kansas City broke the game open with five runs in the bottom half of the frame, highlighted by two-run home run by Dwayne White, increasing their lead to 8-2. Joynt also added his third double of the contest in the inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly.

The Fielders added a run in the eighth off T-Bones reliever Drew Graham as Anderson doubled home Kyle Higgins to cap the scoring at 8-3. Graham worked one inning, allowing one run on one hit and two walks. Kyle Dahman pitched a perfect ninth for the T-Bones, striking out two.

Joynt broke the record with a double in the eighth and finished four-for-five with two RBI in the game.

Kansas City wraps up the three-game series against the Lake County Fielders Wednesday. First pitch is set for 11:05 a.m. T-Bones right-hander Andrew Cruse is scheduled to start the rubber match opposite Lake County right-hander Jeff Long.
