RECAP: Roughriders Top Lancers in Game One of Weekend Series, 7-4

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - The Omaha Lancers were taken down by the Cedar Rapids Roughriders by a final score of 7-4 on Saturday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

In the first period, the Roughriders got out ahead of the Lancers by a score of 2-0. Nearing the final minute of the period, Ryan Savage (18:34) blasted the puck past Blake Pietila to get the Lancers within one. The Roughriders held the 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

In the opening seconds of the second period, Kalle Eriksson (0:13) notched the tying goal for the Lancers. The Roughriders answered back with another goal at 2:59 to take the 3-2 lead, but minutes later the Lancers evened it up when Ryan Savage (6:37) got his second of the night. The Roughriders then put their foot on the gas to score two more goals to end the period and reclaimed the lead, 5-3.

In the third period, Brendan Furry (2:40) shed some light on the Lancers to get them within a point. The Roughriders quickly closed the door on the Lancers hopes, scoring two more goals to take the win with a final score of 7-4.

The Lancers and Roughriders will face against each other again on Sunday, November 11th at Ralston Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:05 pm.
