St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - St. John's IceCaps forward Nikita Scherbak potted the game-winning shootout tally to best the Providence Bruins 4-3 at Mile One Centre on Saturday night.

The IceCaps kicked off the scoring with three straight goals in the first period from Sven Andrighetto (from Michael McCarron and Brett Lernout), Bobby Farnham (unassisted), and McCarron from Andrighetto and Jacob de la Rose.

The P-Bruins came back hard with three unanswered goals to send the game into overtime. Bruins' Danton Heinen potted two tallies for the visitors in a second star performance while Matt Grzelcyk also had a two-point game, picking up two assists.

The two teams were scoreless in the extra frame, and IceCaps forwards Daniel Audette and Scherbak scored the only shootout goals. St. John's netminder Charlie Lindgren was spectacular between the pipes for the home team, stopping 38-of-41 shots in a first star performance.
