St. John's IceCaps News Release

ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Albany Devils topped the St. John's IceCaps 3-2 in an overtime heartbreaker at Mile One Centre on Friday night.

The IceCaps struck twice in the first period to take the lead. Charles Hudon (from Nikita Scherbak), and Mark MacMillan (from Yannick Veilleux) potted the markers for St. John's.

Both teams went scoreless in the second, before the Devils came back to cut the lead in half with an early goal in the third. Albany would go on to tie it up at two apiece with just 2:41 left in regulation to send it to overtime.

Albany came out hard in the extra frame, while IceCaps netminder Charlie Lindgren made highlight-worthy save-after-save. The Devils finally found the back of the net with 1:08 left on the clock for the win.

Devils' goaltender Ken Appleby made 32 saves in a third-star performance, while Lindgren made 23 in a second-star night.

The IceCaps finish up their six-game home stand tomorrow night (7:30PM) with a rematch against the Albany Devils.
