Rebels Win 4-3 in a Shootout; Bartosak with 50 Saves

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The Red Deer Rebels began a three-games-in-four night trek through British Columbia and Washington Wednesday with a 4-3 shoot-out win over the Prince George Cougars.

FIRST PERIOD

No scoring. But a young man named PATRIK BARTOSAK was the difference: the Rebs were outshot 17-7 in the first and 53-30 through three periods and overtime.

SECOND PERIOD

On the powerplay the Cougars opened the scoring when Jari Erricson scored when he tipped a shot from the point.

The Rebels tied things up at 7:56 when JOEL HAMILTON put a nice touch on a centering pass on the Rebels' eighth shot of the night.

TYSON NESS gave Red Deer their first lead of the game at 14:24 on a nice set-up from RHYSE DIENO. And then the Zach Pochrio show hit the ice, scoring twice in 39 seconds to give the Cougars a 3-2 lead.

THIRD PERIOD

After killing a five-on-three penalty early in the final frame, the Rebels tied the game 3-3 at 10:10. CHRISTIAN STOCKL re-directed a point shot from MATT DUMBA.

OVERTIME

Nothing settled. The Rebels had to kill a penalty though and were outshot 53-29.

SHOOT OUT

Rhyse Dieno and Dominik Volek scored, while Bartosak stopped Pochrio and Chase Witala.
