The Red Deer Rebels have punched their ticket to the 2024 WHL Playoffs, presented by Nutrien. Not counting 2020 and 2021 when there was no postseason play due to the pandemic, the Rebels have now qualified for the playoffs every season since 2015 - the longest current streak in the Eastern Conference. Playoff ticket packages are on-sale now! Call Shaun Richer at the Rebels office (403-341-6000) or visit for details.

SAT. MARCH 9 - The Rebels charged out to a 4-0 lead before cruising to a 5-2 win over the visiting Calgary Hitmen at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Dwayne Jean Jr. scored twice for Red Deer while Hunter Mayo, Talon Brigley and Matthew Gard each scored once. Jeramiah Roberts had three assists and was the game's first star. Rhett Stoesser made 24 saves for his second-straight win.

FRI. MARCH 8 - The Rebels moved within a point of clinching a playoff berth with a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Kalan Lind had a power play goal and an assist, Ollie Josephson scored shorthanded, and Carson Birnie and Talon Brigley (second-straight game winner) each scored even strength. Chase Wutzke made 29 saves for the win. Red Deer outshot Calgary 36-32 and was 1-for-4 on the power play while the Hitmen were 0-for-5.

The Rebels won the season series versus the Hitmen 8-1 and have won the last eight games between the two clubs. Red Deer is now 25-4-1-1 in regular season and playoffs versus Calgary over the last three seasons.

Just two games for the Rebels again this week, both versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The home-and-home series goes Friday, March 15 at the ENMAX Centre in Lethbridge and Saturday, March 16 at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Both games start at 7 p.m. The Rebels lead the season series with the Hitmen 6-1 and have six-straight wins versus Calgary.

All Rebels games - home and away - are broadcast live on 106.7 REWIND Radio and CHL TV. Tickets for all Rebels home games are available at

Hometown kid Talon Brigley has matched his career high by scoring in three-straight games (March 2, 8 and 9 versus Calgary). He also scored in three consecutive games in November (versus Vancouver, Prince George and Calgary). The third-year forward is third on the team with 18 goals this season.

The Rebels announced last week that two more prospects have signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the team.

Noah Milford (Okotoks, AB) was selected by the Rebels in the seventh round, 150th overall at the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. He is currently playing with Calgary International Hockey Academy U17 Prep (CSSHL).
