REBELS RECAP
The Rebels were a perfect 3-0 on the week while running their season-long winning streak to seven games (tied with Everett for the longest current streak in the WHL).
SAT. JAN. 20 - Ollie Josephson scored late in the third period for his second game winning goal in as many nights as the Rebels edged the visiting Prince Albert Raiders 2-1 at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Kalan Lind scored in period one to run his point streak to five games. Chase Wutke made 26 saves on the night, including 14 in the third period. Prince Albert outshot Red Deer 27-18 and was 1-for-3 on the power play while the Rebels were 0-for-4.
FRI. JAN. 19 - The Rebels grounded the high-flying Medicine Hat Tigers for a 3-1 road win at Co-op Place. Kalan Lind had a power play goal and an assist. Ollie Josephson and Kai Uchacz (empty net) also scored while Chase Wutzke made 30 saves for the win. Medicine Hat outshot Red Deer 31-24 on the night and both teams were 1-for-5 on the power play.
WED. JAN. 17 - Hunter Mayo's first career hat trick helped lead the Rebels to a thrilling 5-4 win over the top-ranked Saskatoon Blades at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Talon Brigley and Frantisek Formanek also scored for Red Deer. Kai Uchacz and Kalan Lind each had two assists. Chase Wutzke made 31 saves, several of them in spectacular fashion. Saskatoon outshot Red Deer 35-27 and was 1-for-3 on the power play while the Rebels were 1-for-1.
UPCOMING GAMES
Two more home games for the Rebels this weekend at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Both games start at 7 p.m.
FRI. JAN. 26 - The Edmonton Oil Kings are in town for the second time this month. The Rebels defeated Edmonton 4-1 at the Peavey Mart Centrium on January 13.
SAT. JAN. 27 - The Brandon Wheat Kings visit for Country and Western Night. It's also the latest edition of the ever-popular Beer Special night ($10 for two domestic cans).

WUTZKE WINS AGAIN... AGAIN!
For the second-straight time and the third time this season, Rebels netminder Chase Wutzke has been named WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending January 21. The 2024 NHL Draft-eligible puckstopper went 3-0-0-0 for the second consecutive week, posting a 2.00 goals-against average and .292 save percentage. He was the first star of the game in wins Friday at Medicine Hat and Saturday at home versus Prince Albert. The 6-foot-2 netminder was selected by Red Deer in the second round, 40th overall in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. NHL Central Scouting has ranked Wutzke 13th among North American goalies in its midterm draft rankings.
THE GOAL HUNTER
Hunter Mayo netted his first WHL hat trick January 17 vs. Saskatoon. It's the first hat trick by a Rebels defenceman since Dion Phaneuf - January 26, 2003, vs. Medicine Hat.
ON THE RADAR
Four Red Deer Rebels are included in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau mid-season rankings for the 2024 NHL Draft.
