Calgary, AB - Josh Tarzwell scored 25 seconds into overtime to lift the Red Deer Rebels past the Calgary Hitmen 5-4 on Sunday at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on Tsuut'ina Nation.
It was the Hitmen who forced the extra session, erasing a 4-2 third period deficit on goals from Zac Funk and Adam Kydd. Sean Tschigerl and Tyson Galloway also found the back of the net for Calgary with the Tschigerl marker extending his career-high point scoring streak to 11 games.
Kalen Lind and Arshdeep Bains both added a pair of goals for Red Deer with Ben King recording a trio of assists.
The Hitmen outshot the visitors 33-31 and are now 2-0-2 against the Rebels this season.
The two teams will enjoy a one day break before their season finale on Tuesday, May 4 at Westerner Park Centrium in Central Alberta.
