February 17, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, UT - RSL unveils its primary kit for the 2022/23 MLS seasons, celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Branden Steineckert's "BELIEVE" anthem. Honoring the first, the best and for nearly the entirety of Major League Soccer's 27 seasons, the ONLY truly original chant in MLS, RSL has given its 2009 championship jersey a modern twist.
The "BELIEVE" kit is NOW AVAILABLE for purchase at the RSL Team Store in Sandy (NE corner of Rio Tinto Stadium), open Mon-Sat 10a - 6p MT.
*** Every BELIEVE kit purchased from NOW through 6:00p MT Saturday comes with TWO complimentary tickets to RSL's March 19 match against Nashville SC ***
"'The RSL Way' is truly reflected in the 2022/23 BELIEVE kit, with the overall design enhancing Real Salt Lake's bold colors - Claret Red, Cobalt Blue & Victory Gold - while reflecting a classic look worthy of the Club's primary jersey," said John Kimball, RSL President. "A new era is officially underway. While RSL honors the Club's greatest accomplishment with this kit, everyone from David Blitzer, Ryan Smith to fans across the world BELIEVE Real Salt Lake's best days are still ahead."
Staying true to RSL's primary Claret look during each of its previous 17 seasons, the BELIEVE kit sees the red body emblazoned with the Club's crest over the heart, above the LifeVantage logo - present on the RSL jersey since 2014 - appears in white type across the body. The adidas kit boasts a traditional "three stripes" Gold look atop the shoulders, with longtime MLS equipment supplier's logo in Gold on the right breast.
The predominantly Cobalt Blue collar and sleeve trim are accented with both Claret and Gold stripes, a nod to the Club's 2009 MLS Cup Championship. Cobalt Blue also boldly and harmoniously connects the underarms down the torso to the Believe kit's blue shorts, another nod to 2009.
PRIDE - one of the Club's five core values reflected in "The RSL Way" - is represented with the RSL "Lion" mark on the back nape of the neck, mightily representing the regal "pride" of thousands of fans, always present either in person or in spirit as RSL takes the field, as well as the sense of pride felt across the RSL Family wherever the shield is displayed.
Another predominant element on the 2022/23 "BELIEVE" jersey is the Utah-shaped "jock tag," a Victory Gold element on the lower left front of the jersey, with the year of the Club's inaugural '05 season cut out in Claret Red. Like the kit itself, the new jock tag symbolizes the community & state RSL proudly represents. Utah, the "Beehive State," is reflective of industry, hard work and determination.
"I know the fans are going to love this unique kit, as now is the perfect time to honor Branden's art, embrace BELIEVE and look ahead to our future," said Tyler Gibbons, RSL Vice President of Marketing. "Collaborating with our fans, celebrating our past and boldly and forcefully growing our community is our ethos, all of which is reflected in this kit."
"The RSL Way" defines its mission statement as looking to lead and inspire the soccer culture in Utah. It defines core values as pride, community, industry, harmony and integrity - five areas that are outlined as unwavering pillars of the club, the core of the Claret-and-Cobalt culture.
The primary "BELIEVE" kit will be worn by Real Salt Lake in the majority of matches for the 2022 MLS season, kicking off Sunday, Feb. 27 at Houston. RSL then opens up its home campaign on Saturday, March 5 at Rio Tinto Stadium against Seattle Sounders FC, with a 4:00 p.m. MT start time. Tickets are now available at www.RSL.com/tickets for individual games, full- and half-season plans as well.
