Real Salt Lake News Release
SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake fans have two options across the Valley next Tuesday to gather and support the Club's 2021 Audi MLS Cup Playoff trip to Seattle, as both Beer Bar downtown (presented by Michelob Ultra) and the Rio Tinto Stadium Midfield Club (presented by Ford Automotive) offer celebrity guests, prize packs and giveaways, along with U92 spinners E-Rock and DJ Bangarang to kick the parties off at 6:30 p.m. MT in each location.
Real Salt Lake (14-14-6, 48 pts., West #7) travels to Seattle to face the Sounders (17-8-9, 60 pts, West #2) on Tuesday, November 23. The Round One matchup kicks off at 8:30 p.m. MT, and will be nationally televised via FS1 / FOX Deportes in the United States, with Canadian broadcasters TSN / TVA Sports airing the match. Additional RSL coverage for that game will occur via ESPN700 AM (English radio), 104.3 La Gran D (Spanish radio) and www.RSL.com.
Former RSL player and current TV analyst Brian Dunseth will host the festivities at Beer Bar in downtown SLC (161 East 200 South), joined by the legendary Nick Rimando, former RSL goalkeeper and current Academy GK coach and community ambassador. At this 21-and-over party presented by Michelob Ultra, DJ Bangarang of U92 fame will also be on hand to raffle off RSL prize packs, holiday merchandise, with RSL also offering 2022 home opener tickets and holiday vouchers.
Ford presents next Tuesday's "family-friendly" option at Rio Tinto Stadium's Midfield Club, where RioT announcer Mike Waldvogel hosts, along with RSL luminaries Jamison Olave and Luke Mulholland, along with U92 deejay E-Rock. Attendees at the Stadium party will enjoy early access to the RSL Team Store's "Black Friday" merchandise specials in advance of Thanksgiving, with opportunities to win RSL prize packs, giveaways and 2022 home opener information as well.
Following the most dramatic "Decision Day" in MLS history - one which featured RSL midfielder Damir Kreilach's 95th-minute stoppage-time stunner at Kansas City to vault Real Salt Lake into the postseason - the 14-team field is set for the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs, kicking off Saturday.
Real Salt Lake - which won MLS Cup in 2009, before losing in the final in 2013 - advances to the postseason for the 11th time in 14 seasons, and for the third time in the last four years. The Claret-and-Cobalt join Atlanta United as the only MLS teams to have won playoff games in both 2018 and 2019, before each failed to advance during an abbreviated 2020 campaign. While Seattle did not advance in its 2019 playoff, it did win a game, making the Sounders the lone MLS franchise to have won a postseason match in each of the last three years.
As top seeds in their respective conferences, the New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids have each earned a bye in the first round, while the remaining 12 clubs prepare for Round One of the Audi 2021 MLS Cup Playoffs.
