Austin FC News Release
Garcia finished #1 in the 2021 overall points standings during his first season with Austin FC and reached the 2021 eMLS Cup Semifinals as a representative of the Verde & Black
Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC announced on Thursday that the Club has re-signed John Garcia as its representative for the 2022 eMLS season. Competing for the Verde & Black under the gamer tag "xbLeU" in 2021, Garcia finished in first place of the overall eMLS standings and reached the semifinals of eMLS Cup.
Ahead of the 2022 season, Garcia made the choice to represent the Club under the gamer tag "xVERDE" as he aims to reach and win eMLS Cup.
"The name change is a big way to be a part of the community and the culture that is growing around this Club," said Garcia. "Verde is what this fanbase lives and breathes. It's an honor to use the name to represent the Club and the fanbase in eMLS."
Garcia collected 64 points from 26 games played during eMLS League events last season, achieving his first-place finish with a record of 20 wins, four (4) draws, and two (2) losses. His goal difference of +45 was the best of any eMLS player in 2021, and he defeated Sporting Kansas City eMLS player "Alekzandur" in an eMLS Cup Quarterfinal match.
