Reading Stampede Hits Treasure Valley Schools Tuesday

BOISE, ID- January 12, 2004- The Key Bank "Reading Stampede" will be rolling into some local area classrooms tomorrow morning. Idaho Stampede players, coaches and front office personnel will spend time with students in a number of schools and deliver educational materials for their use. The education outreach effort is part of the Idaho Stampede Community Foundation's ongoing effort to promote reading in the Treasure Valley.
The Appearance Schedule is as Follows:
-The Children's School (Boise) 9:00 a.m.
-Snake River Elementary (Nampa) 9:45 a.m.
-Iowa Elementary (Nampa) 10:00 a.m.
-West Middle School (Nampa) 10:00 a.m.
-Zion Lutheran (Nampa) 11:00 a.m.
-Centennial Elementary (Nampa) 11:00 a.m.
-St. Paul's School (Nampa) 11:00 a.m.
Now, in its second year, the "Reading Stampede" is a program developed to help young people develop a life-long love for reading and is funded in part by Key Bank of Idaho and the Micron Foundation. The objective of the program is to motivate elementary students to read. Students are shown how reading allows them to "learn and explore", "achieve their dreams", and most of all, how reading can be "fun"!
The "Reading Stampede" is one of the many community-oriented activities taken on by the Idaho Stampede Community Foundation and the Idaho Stampede. Other programs provided by the ISCF include "Junior Stampede Basketball" with the Treasure Valley YMCA's, and the recently established "Tickets for Kids" program to help area youth obtain entry to Stampede games at the Idaho Center.
