CBA National All-Stars Announced

Boise, ID (January 12, 2004) — The Continental Basketball Association announced today the ten players who have been selected as members of the 2004 National All-Star team. All-Star game participants were voted on by CBA head coaches and team beat writers. The American All-Star team will be announced on Tuesday, January 13.

Dakota Wizards Head Coach Dave Joerger, who was announced yesterday as the National team Head Coach, will lead a team comprised of four Wizards players, three Yakima Sun Kings, two members of the Rockford Lightning, and one player from the Great Lakes Storm. Joerger, and Idaho Stampede Head Coach Larry Krystkowiak, earned head coaching honors by leading their respective teams to the top two quarter-point averages in the league in games played through January 10.

Yakima center Anthony Miller was a unanimous All-Star selection, receiving 13 of a possible 13 votes in the balloting process.

All-Star activities will begin on Monday, January 19, when the National team holds practice from 6 – 7 pm, before the American team goes from 7 – 8 pm. Both practices are open to the public. Then on Tuesday, January 20, the National All-Stars will hold a shoot-around from 10 – 11 am, followed by the American All-Stars from 11 am – 12 pm, at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

Later that night, game day festivities will begin at 6 pm with the CBA Long Distance Shootout presented by The Doctors & Dentists of the Yakima Valley Farm Worker's Clinic. Following the shootout, the Banner Bank Slam Dunk Competition will begin at 6:30 pm, before the All-Star Game tips off at 7:30 pm. During the contest, members of the media and NBA scouts will make their selection for All-Star Most Valuable Player honors, to be announced after the game.

ANTHONY BONNER – F, 6-8, 240, Great Lakes Storm (St. Louis '90): First All-Star selection...Currently ranks 6th in the league in rebounding (9.0 per game)...Averaging 14.9 points per game and is shooting 53.6 percent (143 of 267) from the field...Posted a season-high 24 points on November 21 against Sioux Falls...Was a first round draft pick (23rd overall) by the Sacramento Kings in the 1990 NBA Draft...Played for Sacramento from 1990-1993...Played for the New York Knicks (NBA) during the 1993-1994 (5.1 ppg) and 1994-1995 (3.8ppg) campaigns.

BEN EBONG – F, 6-8, 230, Dakota Wizards (Davidson, NC '99): First All-Star selection...Currently ranks 8th in the league in rebounding (8.6 per game), and 5th in offensive rebounds (2.8)...Averaging 14.5 points per game...Posted a season-high 26 points and 19 rebounds on January 6 against Dakota...Averaged 8.4 rebounds per game as a member of the Sioux Falls Skyforce during the 2000-01 season.
