Fields Named Player of the Week

Boise, ID (January 12, 2004) â The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Rockford Lightning guard Ronnie Fields was named the League Player of the Week for the week of January 4 â 10
Fields, who was an All-League First Team member during the 2002-03 season, averaged 28.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game last week as he led the Lightning to a 2-0 record. He also posted 3.5 assists and 0.5 blocks per game, while shooting 54.5 percent (24 of 44) from the field and 33.3 percent (2 of 6) from the three-point line.
In a 119-110 victory over the Gary Steelheads on January 6, the Farragut High School alum posted 26 points, six assists and four steals. Three nights later in a 105-99 victory over the Great Lakes Storm, he notched 31 points, six rebounds and six steals.
Fields leads the CBA in both scoring (26.4 points per game) and steals (3.5 per contest), and he ranks eighth in assists (4.3 per game).
Other players receiving consideration were Dakota's Ben Ebong (26.0 ppg, 19.0 rpg), Idaho's Randy Livingston (16.0 ppg, 11.0 asp) and Sioux Falls' Leonard White (23.6 ppg, 11.3 rpg).
