RazorSharks ready to defend title

Rochester RazorSharks News Release


(Rochester,New York)...The Rochester RazorSharks travel to Baltimore this Sunday, November 5 to open the 2006-2007 season as the defending American Basketball Association champions tip-off at 4:00 p.m. at Coppin State University against the Pearls. Head Coach Rod Baker and the RazorSharks open their second season of play in the ABA coming off a championship season that saw the expansion team roar to a 26-4 regular season record, including a 16-game win streak during the season and a four-game sweep to the league title in the playoffs.

MOORE TO HAVE SURGERY - RazorSharks guard Nigel Moore will have surgery today on his left knee to correct a slight meniscus tear. The first year RazorShark and Rochester native (Wilson Magnet High) will be out 3-4 weeks.

ROSTER BREAKDOWN - The RazorSharks have eight players returning from last year's championship team, with six newcomers on the roster. Four players are native Rochestarians and Eric Coley makes five...although he spent the majority of his younger years in Oklahoma.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN - The RazorSharks open with two road games - November 5 at Baltimore and November 11 at Strong Island before returning to Rochester for the home opener on Thursday, November 16.

ABA NEWS & NOTES - The Buffalo Silverbacks have signed 6'7 guard Kueth Duany, who was captain of the 2003 Syracuse University team that won the NCAA title...The Chicago Rockstars have signed former NBA player Marcus Liberty - the 6'8" forward played at the University of Illinois and has played in Europe....The Orlando Orange will play half of their home games at Larkin's Champion Sportsplex in Orlando - owned by Cincinnati Reds outfielder Barry Larkin.
