ABA returns to Phoenix in 2007

October 31, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the league will return to Phoenix AZ for the 2007 season. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "It is amazing that we do not have a team in Arizona. We've had a lot of interest, thought we would have one or two, but they never worked out. And now we do - with a great ownership group that includes ABA Texas Tycoons owner, Charles Key, and led by Cecil Chambers, CEO of Chambers Investment Group, LLC. This is a group that can get the job done right."

Mr. Chambers is also founder/CEO of Triumphant Pictures and has gained a solid Hollywood footing through years of introducing film executives to his stable of music artists and copyrights. He garnered his business and marketing skills as an executive with Coors Distributing Company as well as with his company Roquemor & Company that provided consulting to the producers for Ice Cube, Too Short, BoysIIMen and others. His company specializes in urban music and he has been credited with three #1 hits as well as key signings such as multi-platinum superstars Ginuwine and Anita McCloud. Chambers has also worked on the sountracks for Nutty Professor 1 & 2, Pokemon, The Brothers and Barbershop. He is now the producer of "Untitled Usher Project," a soundtrack that features Usher giving two releases for the theme of a movie.

"I love entertainment - music and films - but my passion is basketball and I am thrilled with the idea of bringing the ABA to Phoenix. Having Charles (Key) as a partner along with Jhen Chambers, with their backgrounds and experience in entertainment, marketing and the ABA is a great plus for us," said Chambers. "And with a year to go before we play, we'll have plenty of time to do the things necessary to become one of the best ABA organizations. We have already begun."
