
RazorSharks Re-Sign Lazarus Sims

(Rochester, New York)...The defending American Basketball Association champion Rochester RazorSharks announced today the signing of Lazarus Sims, the 6'4" point guard and assistant coach who led the RazorSharks to the league title in their inaugural season in 2005-2006. Sims will once again assume the duel role of player and assistant coach for Head Coach Rod Baker.
"Last year was a homecoming for me here in central New York playing for Rochester," said Sims. "I'm happy to be staying 'home' and to play for another championship with the RazorSharks. It's always tough to repeat as champions but our focus this season will be on the little things to bring another championship to Rochester."
Sims averaged 7.5 points per game and a team-leading 6.2 assists per game to help the RazorSharks to a 26-4 regular season record and a perfect 4-0 mark in the playoffs. Sims, who started every game but one last year, led the RazorSharks in steals by averaging 1.5 per game also hauled down 4.3 rebounds per game. He notched 12 assists in one game twice last season and scored a team-high 27 points in a loss at Harlem.
A graduate of Henniger High School in Syracuse and a four-year varsity letterman at Syracuse University, this will be Sims' 11th year of professional basketball, which has seen him play internationally in Poland, Venezuela and with the Harlem Globetrotters. Sims has won three professional championships in the United States and has reached the championship game three other times. He led Syracuse to the NCAA Final Four championship game in 1996.
The RazorSharks begin there second season in the ABA in mid-November and will play 18 regular season home games in The Blue Cross Arena. Season tickets for all home games are now on sale by calling the RazorSharks ticket department at (585) 232-9190.
