Rayz welcome additions to office
August 4, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Corpus Christi IceRays News Release
The Corpus Christi Rayz are pleased to announce two new front office additions for the 2006-2007 season. The Rayz have hired Bill Yates as their new Assistant General Manager/VP of Sales and Janie Rodriguez as the team's new Director of Finance. Both Yates and Rodriguez come to Corpus Christi with sports experience and a drive to help the Rayz front office succeed.
Yates joins the Rayz after spending eight seasons with fellow Central Hockey League members, the Fort Worth Brahmas. The Brahmas suspended operations after the completion of the 2005-2006 season and the Rayz pursued Yates for his wealth of experience and success in Fort Worth. As Assistant General Manager Yates oversees much of the front office operations on a day to day basis and becomes the head of the Corporate and Ticket Sales departments.
Upon Yates' arrival in Fort Worth, the team saw significant increases in attendance and corporate support and was recognized as the league's most improved franchise in 2005. Yates was also instrumental in the development of the Fort Worth Brahmas Foundation which served as the administrative arm for several community programs including Cool School, Healthy Goals, Hooked on Reading and the team's summer outdoor hockey program known as Blacktop Brahmas. Yates attended Bethany College (Lindsborg, KS) and in 1993 earned his sociology degree from the University of Texas-Arlington. Yates and his wife, Gigi, recently relocated to the Coastal Bend upon his joining the Rayz.
Rodriguez is a native of Corpus Christi who has spent 15 years working in finance. Previously, Rodriguez has run her own business, worked for the City of Corpus Christi and worked for Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. In her new role with the Rayz, Rodriguez will oversee all aspects of the team's finances. Rodriguez currently resides in Taft with her Husband, Johnny and their 13-year old son, Austin.
The Corpus Christi Rayz are currently in preparation for the 2006-2007 season. The Rayz return to the American Bank Center is only 78 days away. Corpus Christi will begin their season at home on October 21st vs. the Laredo Bucks at 7:05pm. Season ticket packages and corporate sponsorship opportunities are currently available.
