Scorpions to open Santa Ana Star Center October 27
August 4, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
New Mexico Scorpions News Release
[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]- The New Mexico Scorpions, proud member of the Central Hockey League (CHL), are excited to announce that their inagural game at the state-of-the-art Santa Ana Star Center will take place on Friday, October 27, 2006. The puck will drop at 7:35 PM when the Arizona Sundogs, the Scorpions' new Southwest Division rival, make their way to Rio Rancho.
Fans throughout New Mexico are sure to be excited with this announcement as the game will mark the official end to the area's hockey drought, following the conclusion of the 2004-05 season, and the hiatus that followed as the team awaited construction of their new home.
Prior to the game, fans are invited to the Scorpions Pre-Game Fiesta outside the Santa Ana Star Center. Beginning at 5 PM, fans will be treated to a host of activities as the momentum builds in anticipation of the Scorpions christening their new home.
Events are still being finalized and will be announced closer to opening night. Fans should plan to arrive a few hours before the game to enjoy live entertainment and great activities for the kids.
The rest of the Scorpions schedule will be released on Monday, August 7, but fans can be excited that 22 of the 32 home games will be weekend dates. Start times for Monday-Friday games will be 7:35 PM; while Saturdays will see the puck drop at 7:05 PM.
