Rayz Acquire Defenseman Kotary From Blazers

The Corpus Christi Rayz have acquired the rights to defenseman Sean Kotary from the Oklahoma City Blazers for future considerations, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon. Kotary has appeared in four games for the Blazers this season, tallying one goal and 11 penalty minutes. The Rayz will begin a three game weekend on Friday Night in Rio Grande Valley before returning home on Saturday Night and Sunday afternoon. The Rayz host the Texas Brahmas on Saturday at 7:05pm and then on Sunday the Youngstown Steelhounds visit for another Caller-Times Family Day. Kotary, 26, is in his third professional season after spending his first two years in the United Hockey League. Last year, Kotary had two goals, 11 points and 139 penalty minutes in 75 games with the Flint Generals. The prior year, as a rookie, Kotary split time between three UHL clubs in Port Huron, Elmira and Quad City. While in Quad City, he was teammates with current Rayz netminder, Jason Tapp. Before turning pro, Kotary played the majority of his college hockey at SUNY - Oswego. He also skated one year at the University of Findlay and had a brief five-game stint with Bowling Green State University.

Kotary stands 6'0" and weighs 190 lbs. In 2000, the New Hartford, NY native was a ninth round selection (266th overall) of the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League Entry Draft.

The Rayz return to the American Bank Center on Saturday and Sunday with games against the Texas Brahmas and Youngstown Steelhounds. Saturday's game is at 7:05pm.
