Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LOUISIANA - The Youngstown SteelHounds went down 4-2 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs but were able to claw their way back to steal a 5-4 victory on Tuesday night.

The Mudbugs struck first as Dale Lupul scored his first goal of the season at just 1:29 into the game to give the Bugs a 1-0 lead. Youngstown answered back as Chris Shaffer scored just 31 seconds later to tie the game at one. For Shaffer he has now scored in two straight games. Bossier-Shreveport took the lead with their first of three power play goals as Tyler Lucas made it 2-1 at 5:31. Youngstown ended the period by tying the game with a power play goal of their own thanks to Eric Przepiorka's second goal of the season at 16:10.

The second period belonged to the Mudbugs as they scored two straight power play goals to make it 4-2. The Mudbugs were 3-8 with the man advantage. The Hounds did not go quietly as Kevin Jarman netted his first of two in this game to pull the deficit to 4-3 after two periods.

The comeback was on as the Hounds scored on a five-on-three thanks to Kevin Jarman's second of the night to tie the game with 10:03 left in regulation. The Mudbugs went down two men again and then Quade Lightbody committed a slashing penalty with 3:06 left to extend the Hounds two-man advantage. Jeff Alcombrack pounced on the opportunity as he put a slap shot past last season's Goaltender of the Year John DeCaro to give the Hounds the 5-4 win.

For the Hounds they have now set a new franchise record for best start with five straight victories. The undefeated Hounds will now travel to Wichita to play the Thunder on Friday night. Game time is 8:05pm and is available on WSOM AM600 and SteelHounds.com.
