Rayshawn Askew One Shy Of 100 NIFL Career Touchdowns

Cincinnati, OH â Rayshawn Askew of the Cincinnati Marshals will be rushing towards a career milestone this Saturday as the Marshals take on the Dayton Warbirds at U.S. Bank Arena at 7:30pm. Currently Askew holds 99 career touchdowns in the National Indoor Football League, but he is itching to get to 100.
Last weekend in Beaumont, Askew rushed for five touchdowns but had two called back due to penalties. Those two touchdowns would have been his 100th and 101st career touchdowns. The penalties, while disappointing at the time, now give him the chance to achieve this milestone at home, in front of his family and friends.
"Rayshawn is a hard worker and a great player, but above all, he's a great person and a leader on this team. There's no doubt in my mind that he'll reach 100 this weekend," said Head Coach Ed Biles.
Askew has enjoyed great success in the National Indoor Football League. Most indoor teams tend to pass the ball more often than run the ball due to the smaller field and the faster pace of the game. It is quite an achievement for a player to score 100 touchdowns, especially in only his 4th NIFL season. No other NIFL players have achieved this feat.
"I'm excited and proud to be at the point in my career where I can reach this milestone in front of my family and the home fans that have been so supportive of the Marshals this season," said Askew. "I feel like I owe it to the people of Cincinnati and my offensive line to perform well to thank them for their support."
The Cincinnati Marshals host the Dayton Warbirds this Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 7:30pm at U.S. Bank Arena. For this special "Pack The House Night" all adult tickets are just $10.00 and children 2-12 are still only $7.00 (discounts not valid on the $25.00 VIP seats).
