Rays Report - One Game, One Loss

The Corpus Christi IceRays played only one game this weekend as they hosted the division rival Amarillo Bulls on Sunday afternoon inside the American Bank Center and came up short as they lost 3-1. All the goals were recorded in the first period of play, then both squads were unable to score the remainder of the game as Amarillo won their third game out of four played over the week.

GAME #1 - 11-20-11: Corpus Christi 1-3 Amarillo Bulls - The Wildcats kicked off the scoring just eleven seconds into the game as Jake Webber took a shot from the point, Tyler Hope deflected it past Anthony Stolarz for an early 1-0 lead. The IceRays tied the game up with a shorthanded goal; Travis Maxwell took a pass from Joe Ginley on an odd man rush beating Matt Leon top shelf to tie the game 1-1. Jason Eddy scored the game winning goal 17:24 into the second period to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. Anthony Stolarz stopped 29 of 31 shots in the loss. It was the second straight loss for Corpus Christi at the hands of the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: Lots going on this weekend as the IceRays host a pair of games this Friday and Saturday night. Friday night is "Frosty Friday". All fans in attendance receive half off 20-ounce domestic beer and 24-ounce soda. Then on Saturday night, it's "Caller Times Family Four Pack Night". Fans can purchase four tickets for just $34. Also, bring five nonperishable food items to this Friday or Saturday's games and receive a free ticket voucher for the home game on December 3rd.

TRADED AWAY... The IceRays announced that they traded captain Mychal Monteith and Josh Obregon. Monteith was shipped to the Texas Tornado, while Obregon is now a member of the Odessa Jackalopes. Both teams are in the South Division along with Corpus Christi.

FAILED TO SCORE... After scoring with less than four seconds left in the first period, the IceRays couldn't convert for the final two periods of play in Sunday's loss. Matthew Weis hit the post minutes into the third period.

LOSING STREAK... The IceRays are in a slump, losing the past four games in a row. The latest loss came to Amarillo yesterday. The three other losses came at the hands of the Wichita Falls Wildcats.

BACK HOME, AGAIN... The IceRays return to home ice this weekend as they host the New Mexico Mustangs on Friday and Saturday night. Last time these two teams met, the IceRays swept New Mexico. However, the IceRays have lost their last four games.

FIRST IMPRESSION... Chris Komma had a solid first start for the Corpus Christi IceRays on last weekend against Wichita Falls. Komma denied 31 of 33 shots, however the IceRays failed to score being shutout 2-0.

WHAT'S ON TAP' Corpus Christi is back on home ice this Friday and Saturday night against Wichita Falls at 7:05PM.
