Rays Downed By Lookouts

ORLANDO - The Orlando Rays (25-30) lost to the Chattanooga Lookouts (26-30) 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at Cracker Jack Stadium. The Rays have lost only two of their last seven games.

Jonny Gomes and Amado German accounted for the Rays offense. Gomes went 1-for-4 with a homerun while Amado German had a double, a single and a walk in five at bats.

John Rocker pitched two innings in middle relief, giving up four runs on two hits. The Rays starting pitcher Matt White (0-1) suffered his first loss allowing three runs on four hits in five innings pitched.

Chattanooga pitcher Bobby Basham (4-4) pitched seven innings allowing two runs on six hits. Basham had four strikeouts.

The O-Rays will continue the series with a 7:05 start against the Chattanooga Lookouts. RHP Jose Veras (1-5, 3.83) pitching for Rays, while the Lookouts counter with LHP John Koronka (4-4, 4.02).
