Mobile BayBears News Release

Huntsville, Ala. – The Mobile BayBears led the Huntsville Stars 4-0 entering the seventh inning, but for the second time in a week they lost the lead and then the game, in 11 innings. The Stars scored three runs in the seventh and tied the game in the ninth. Huntsville went on to win the game in the11th inning off of Brad Baker.

Stars catcher Mike Kremblas drove in the game-wining run, his fourth RBI of the night, with his fourth hit of the game. Kremblas entered the game hitting .147.

Todd Donovan broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth, driving in Bobby Scales with a two-out single. Mobile extended their lead to 4-0 with a three-run sixth. Jon Knott scored on an error by shortstop J.J. Hardy and starting pitcher Duncan McAdoo drove home two with a bases-loaded single. The hit was the first of McAdoo's career.

McAdoo, making his third start of the season, was impressive in his six and two-thirds innings. He allowed only three hits while striking out nine and was charged with two runs.

He would leave with two runners on and two outs. Alan Webb entered and walked the first two hitters he faced before giving up a two-run single to Kremblas, cutting the lead to 4-3.

"McAdoo pitched one of the best games anyone has thrown for us this year," BayBears' manager Craig Colbert said. "His numbers are in no way indicative of the way he pitched."

The Stars tied the score in the ninth against Mike Bumstead. Kremblas again came through with a two-out single.

The BayBears are now 0-6 in extra-inning games this season.

Mobile and Huntsville will play a double-header of sorts on Sunday. They will complete their postponed game from April 25th, which sits as a scoreless tie in the top of the seventh inning at 2:05. They will then play their regularly scheduled game.
