Rays Activate Allen

April 21, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that defenseman Matt Desrosiers has been moved to the injured list and defenseman Chris Allen has been activated. Desrosiers is on the IR due to a leg injury suffered in game two of the division finals this past Saturday night. Fellow defenseman Chris Allen will take Desrosiers spot on the roster. Allen is expected to play tomorrow night against the Florida Everblades.

"Losing Matt is obviously a severe blow to our team," noted Fitzsimmons, "But, Chris is a very talented defenseman that brings a different offensive dimension to the ice for us."

Heading into game number three of the division finals, this will be Allen's first playoff game with the Rays. A 1996 third round draft pick of the Florida Panthers; the Rays acquired Allen last year from Greensboro. The Chatham, Ontario native has played in the NHL, AHL, and now the ECHL.

Leading the Rays' defense last year with 43 points, Desrosiers has played in all 6 playoff games this season with 1 assist. Acquired from the Dayton Bombers, Desrosiers is in his second full season with the Rays.

South Carolina will take on Florida tomorrow night in Game Three at 7:05 p.m. If Game Four is necessary, it will be at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night at 7:30.
