BOISE, Idaho – Alaska permitted a season-low 15 shots on goal Tuesday night, but four of those went in as Idaho took a two games to one lead in the Pacific Division Finals with a 4-1 victory in front of 6,251 at Sullivan Arena.

The Steelheads can wrap up the best-of-five series tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. More than 2,000 tickets remain available for Game Four. Idaho scored first on a Dan Vandermeer knuckler from the point that fooled Alaska goalie Dan Murphy and sailed into the back of the net at 12:28 of the first period. The Aces dominated the second period and tied the game at 1-1 just 1:47 into the middle frame when Chris Lipsett smacked home a rebound. But the Steelheads scored on their only shot of the second period to take the lead for good at 11:13, when Jan Kopecky intercepted a clearing attempt by Louis Mass and snapped a wrist shot by Murphy glove side.

Lance Galbraith provided all the insurance that his netminder Dan Ellis would need with a one-timer for his fifth goal of the playoffs at 6:13 of the final period. Derek Paget buried an empty-netter from inside his own blue line to account for the final margin with 1:21 left in the game. Alaska outshot Idaho 22-7 over the first two periods and 30-15 for the game but now faces elimination on its home ice tomorrow night. Steelheads coach John Olver has never lost (7-0) at Sullivan Arena during the postseason, dating to 1998, when he was at the helm of the now-defunct Tacoma Sabercats.

All Alaska playoff games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM, as well as at www.alaskaaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play.
