Rayborn Named af2\'s Offensive Player of the Week

MACON, Ga. – The league office of arenafootball2 announced Tuesday that John Rayborn has been selected as the af2's Offensive Player of the Week.

Rayborn completed 32-of-41 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns. Rayborn also rushed for seven yards and three touchdowns. Rayborn completed a pass to five different players, and threw a touchdown pass to three different Knights. Rayborn's longest pass of the night was to Tremaine Neal for a 36-yard touchdown.

Rayborn completed all three of his pass attempts on the Knights' final drive of the game. The Knights took possession with 37 seconds remaining in the game. Rayborn connected with Gabe Amey for a three-yard gain and then found Tremaine Neal on a 14-yard pass, taking the ball to the Augusta three-yard line. On the next play, Martez Wesley scored on a three-yard pass from Rayborn with seven seconds remaining.

This season Rayborn has completed 135-of-209 passes for 1,592 yards and 30 touchdowns. Rayborn is ranked second in the af2 in passing-yards per game with 265.3 and is ranked third in the af2 with a 113.9 pass rating. Rayborn's efforts this season have made him a mid-season candidate for the af2's Offensive Player of the Year.

The Knights are back in action, at home, Saturday, June 8th at 7:30 in the Macon Coliseum. The Knights (7-2) will host the Columbus Wardogs (2-6) in an American Conference Eastern Division matchup. The first 500 fans who make a charitable donation of diapers, formula, baby-care items or monetary gift will receive a coupon football courtesy of Chick-fil-A. All proceeds benefit Covenant Care Services, a Christian adoption service.
