Pensacola Barracudas News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. â Talk about a perfect Father's Day gift.
Pensacola defensive specialist Will Pettis missed last week's game to be with his fiancée Akiah as she was about to give birth to the couple's first child. The baby finally arrived Tuesday night.
Thalia Pettis was born June 4th at 7:34 p.m. in Dallas.
"It's still sinking in," Pettis said after he returned to Pensacola Thursday. "It's still like a dream to me."
Thalia checked in at five pounds, 12 ounces and a whopping 23 inches.
Although Pettis had to return to the team, he did get the opportunity to perform the rites of fatherhood before he left Texas.
"I did it all the first night," Pettis said. "I got to feed her, hold her and I changed a dirty diaper."
Pettis will have a different kind of mess on his hands Saturday.
Pensacola hosts Tallahassee at the Civic Center at 7 p.m. Tallahassee is 6-2 on the year and is riding a five-game winning streak. Pensacola (3-5) was impressive in its last home game, defeating previously unbeaten Tennessee Valley.
