Visalia Rawhide News Release

VISALIA -- The Rawhide managed to split the doubleheader and win the series against the High Desert Mavericks on Saturday evening at Rawhide Ballpark. The Rawhide won the first game in thrilling fashion, as Bobby Borchering doubled home the winning run to give the 'Hide their second walk-off win in a row via a 4-3 victory.

Game 1 of the doubleheader started of very similarly to last night's game, as Jon Griffin hit a solo home run to center field to give the Rawhide an early 1-0 lead. It was Griffin's second home run in as many games and his sixth overall on the season.

Anthony Meo pitched exceptionally well for the second outing in a row. As the Rawhide hung onto a slim lead, Meo kept Visalia in it. In the top of the 5^th, Meo gave up a lead off double to Carlos Ramirez, but was able to strike out the next three batters to prevent the tying run from scoring.

The Mavericks were finally able to crack the scoreboard in the top of the 6^th inning. Mike McGee delivered a one out, RBI single with runners at the corners to tie the game at 1-1. With two outs and two on, Carlos Ramirez hit a weak dribbler up the middle to give the Mavericks a 2-1 lead, their first of the ballgame.

Bo Schultz then relieved Meo, but was unable to prevent further damage, as Patrick Brady delivered the fourth hit of the inning to score Mike McGee and extend the High Desert lead to 3-1.

Trailing 3-1 going into the bottom of the 7^th, Bobby Borchering and Raywilly Gomez drew back-to-back walks. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third base with no outs. Eric Groff delivered a clutch RBI single to cut the lead to 3-2. With runners at the corners, Carter Bell hit an RBI single to tie the game up at 3-3.

The Rawhide could not further capitalize on the opportunity to walk-off for the second game in a row. Chris Valencia grounded into a double play before Keon Broxton struck out to end the 7^th inning.

However, the Rawhide had some walk-off magic left in them from last night's win in the bottom of the 8^th inning. With runners on first and second base, Bobby Borchering hammered a ball to right field for the game-winning RBI double to give the Rawhide their second walk-off win in a row.

The Mavericks jumped on top of the Rawhide in the 1^st inning of Game 2. Brad Miller led off the game with a double and Steven Proscia was eventually able to sacrifice him home to give High Desert an early 1-0 lead.

High Desert continued to give Rawhide starter Patrick Schuster trouble in the 2^nd inning. Schuster surrendered two walks and two hits along with a sacrifice fly to allow two more runs to come in and extend the Mavericks lead to 3-0.

The Mavericks blew the game wide open in the 4^th inning, where they batted around to tack on four more runs to make it 7-0. James Jones continued to pour it on in the 5^th with a 2-run homerun to extend the Mavericks lead to 9-0. They would add one more run in the 7^th to provide the final score of 10-0.

TNA IMPACT Wrestling will be making their way to Rawhide tomorrow night at 7 pm for an exciting Basebrawl event! Tickets are almost all gone. Visit the ticket office at the ballpark or head to www.RawhideBaseball.com to reserve your tickets! Gates open at 6 pm.
