
Rawhide Lose Their Fifth Home Game of the Season 5-4

Visalia, CA - The Rawhide dropped the first game of the five-game series 5-4. It is only the fifth time this season the Rawhide have lost at home and their home record is now 23-5.
Justin Vernia started for the Rawhide and gave up four runs (three earned) in 4.2 innings. Those three runs came off two homeruns. One was a solo shot by Johnny Adams in the third and the other was a two-run blast in the fifth by Joe Rizzo .
The Rawhide did not score a run until the bottom of the fifth inning when Jorge Perez scored off an RBI single by L.T. Tolbert . They tacked on another run when Luis Alejandro Basabe doubled to right field and Jake McCarthy scored.
In the bottom of the seventh, Tolbert got his second RBI of the game when he grounded out to first and Perez scored. The Rawhide tied up the game later that inning when Jancarlos Cintron crossed home plate off a wild pitch from Kyle Wilcox .
Mack Lemieux came in to pitch the eighth inning with a score tied at 4-4. The second batter he faced, Connor Kopach , hit a solo homerun to take the lead 5-4. The Rawhide were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth, despite having a runner on third and one out.
Tomorrow the Rawhide try to break their three-game losing streak. Jeff Bain will start for the Rawhide and Ian McKinney will be on the bump for the Nuts. First pitch is at 7:00PM.
