Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattler pitching tag team of Donnie Hume and Phillippe Aumont held the Cedar Rapids Kernels to two hits as the Rattler offense tied a season high for runs scored. The Rattlers beat the Kernels 7-1 Thursday night in the first game of an 11-game homestand on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Juan Diaz and Alex Liddi each had three RBI for the Rattlers to lead the hitters.

Cedar Rapids starter Michael Davitt walked the bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning. Liddi unloaded them by driving a double to left-center to put the Rattlers up 3-0.

The Rattlers (12-17) tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second inning. Diaz drove in the first run of the frame with an infield grounder. The other run scored on a wild pitch by Davitt.

Hume's only mistake was a 3-2 pitch to Anel De Los Santos that was lined over the left field fence for a homer. The Kernels (16-16) had only one other hit off Hume. The lefty worked a career high six innings, struck out seven, and did not walk a batter.

Diaz drove in another Rattler run with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning. Diaz drove in the final Rattler run of the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth.

Phillippe Aumont entered the game in relief of Hume in the top of the seventh. The #1 pick of the Seattle Mariners in the 2007 draft retired all nine batters he faced to record his second save.

The tag team of Hume and Aumont retired the final 13 batters of the game and recorded 12 K's on the night.

Wisconsin and Cedar Rapids continue their series on Friday night. Michael Pineda (3-0, 0.52) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Rattlers. Michael Anton (4-1, 2.58) is set to go for the Kernels. Game time is 6:35pm.
